Our Mission
Every year, over 54,000 vehicles are stolen across Australia. That is one every 10 minutes. Behind every stolen vehicle is a person whose life has been disrupted: a tradie who cannot get to work, a parent who cannot do the school run, a family who has lost their only transport.
Stolen Vehicles Australia exists to close the gap between a theft being reported and a vehicle being found. We connect vehicle owners with a nationwide community of watchers: security operators, dashcam users, parking attendants, and everyday Australians who want to help.
Our platform is free for all Australians. No signup required to check a plate. No fees to report a stolen vehicle. We believe that vehicle theft recovery is a community problem that deserves a community solution.
How the Platform Was Built
Stolen Vehicles Australia started with a simple observation: stolen vehicle information is fragmented. Police databases are not publicly searchable. Facebook groups are scattered by region. Dashcam footage goes unwatched. No single platform connected all these sources.
We built this platform to aggregate stolen vehicle data from multiple sources: direct reports, community submissions, social media monitoring, and ANPR camera integrations. The result is a single, searchable database covering all eight Australian states and territories.
Community Driven Approach
Our platform works because of the community

- Reports go live instantly
- Sighting reports from community members
- Integration with security and dashcam networks
- Cross referencing with police data
- State specific reporting information
- Coverage across all 8 states and territories
Privacy Policy
We take privacy seriously. Here is what you need to know:
- Owner details are private. Contact information provided in reports is never displayed publicly.
- Vehicle data is public. Plate numbers, make, model, colour, and state are visible in search results to maximise the chance of recovery.
- Sightings are anonymised. The identity of people who report sightings is not shared publicly.
- No tracking. We do not track users, sell data, or use third party analytics.
- Data retention. Reports remain in the database until marked as recovered by the reporter.
